10-Year Joy & Movement Audit

The 10-Year Joy & Movement Audit™

Getting older doesn't mean giving up the things that make you feel alive — running, hiking, dancing, traveling, playing. This short audit helps you ask: what does my body say yes to now, and what do I want it to keep saying yes to?

✦ Your answers are clues — not a grade.
1
What kinds of movement bring you joy?

Select all that apply.

Which three would you most hate to give up?

These are your Joy Priorities — the activities your physical capacity should protect.

Your Joy Priorities are the anchor for everything that follows. Keep them in mind as you move through the rest of this audit.
What do you most want to still be doing 10–20 years from now?

Think beyond exercise. What do you want to be able to do, experience, explore, or enjoy?

What have you already stopped doing — or started doing less of?

Maybe something you used to love. Maybe something you want to do but don't feel confident doing anymore.

2

Physical capacity isn't just about how strong you are. It's your ability to meet the physical demands of the life you want to live. Rate each area as you feel it right now.

I avoid it or don't feel able to
1
I can do it, but it's difficult
2
I can do it comfortably
3
I can do it easily and confidently

Sometimes physical changes don't just affect what we can do — they affect what we're willing to try.

4

Take a moment to imagine yourself 10 years from now.

What would make you say: "I'm so glad I kept training for this."
What would you never want your physical capacity to take away from you?

Look back at your answers and capture the patterns.

Your Joy

The three activities you most want to keep:

Your Strengths

Where did you rate 2 or 3? These are your foundation.

Your Growth Areas

Where did you rate 0 or 1? These are opportunities.

Your Reflection

What stood out to you as you completed this?

Your Joy-to-Capacity Gap

Is there something you love doing but are currently having difficulty doing — or have stopped doing altogether?

This gap isn't a prediction of your future. It's a place to start.

What Your Answers May Be Telling You

If most ratings were 2–3

You have a strong foundation. Now ask yourself: what do I need to keep training to continue doing what I love? Don't wait for your capacity to change. Train for what comes next.

If you had several 0–1 ratings

You've identified areas with room to build. That doesn't mean you're falling apart — it means there's an opportunity. Start where you are. Build from there.

If you've stopped something you love

Pay attention to that answer. The question isn't just "what can I do?" — it's "what have I stopped, and do I want to get it back?" Your starting point may have changed. Your goal doesn't have to.

You Can Change Your Physical Capacity

Your body will change throughout midlife and beyond. The goal isn't to fight aging — it's to understand those changes and train for the life you want to keep living.

You don't exercise so you can exercise. You exercise so you can live.

As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I help women in perimenopause, menopause, and beyond build the strength, power, mobility, balance, endurance, and confidence to stay capable of doing the things they love.
